Our mission

Our mission is to tell you the truth about your energy plan, whichever way it lands. When switching saves you money, we show the dollars. When staying is the right call, we say so and mean it.

The problem we started with

Australians have installed batteries in their hundreds of thousands, most of them under the federal rebate. Almost every one of those homes is still on the electricity plan that suited the house before the battery arrived. The gap between a battery-hostile plan and the right one is commonly hundreds of dollars a year.

And nobody in the chain has a reason to tell you. The installer's job ended at handover. The retailer profits from your inertia. The comparison sites get paid when you switch through them, which means their answer is always, somehow, switch.

That's the part that bothered us. Energy plan advice in this country is commission-tainted almost everywhere you look. Rankings bend toward whoever pays. "Free" comparison is paid for by the retailers being compared.

PowerLens is built the other way up. Your verdict is paid for by you, and nobody else. $15, one answer, worked out from your own bill. No retailer pays us anything, so no retailer can buy a better position in your report.

How we keep the answer honest

We earn nothing whether you switch or stay. That is the point of PowerLens.

That sentence is on every report we produce, and the business is built so it stays true:

• No commissions, ever. We take no referral fees and no payment of any kind from energy retailers. If the best plan for your house pays us nothing, it is still ranked first.
• "Stay put" is an answer we're happy to give. If you're already on a good deal, the report says so with the same prominence as a switch verdict. A comparison site can't afford that answer. We can.
• If we can't prove it, we don't claim it. Plans that can't be priced honestly from your data are set aside and counted, never ranked on a guess. Every figure in your report shows its working.
• Money back if we get the numbers wrong. During beta: email us, no questions asked.
• Your data is yours. We read your bill once and delete the file. We never sell your data. You can delete your report yourself, permanently, any time. And no one phones you afterwards.

Who we are

PowerLens is PowerLens Pty Ltd, ABN 85 699 732 904, a small independent company in Melbourne, founded in 2026. We are not owned by, invested in by, or partnered with any energy retailer.

It started the way these things should: with our own house. Solar on the roof, a battery on the wall, and a nagging suspicion that the plan was wrong. We built the engine to answer our own question and tested it against our own bills until the numbers matched to the cent. Then we made it available to everyone else with the same question.

In beta

PowerLens is in beta for solar and battery homes in VIC, NSW, QLD and SA. The numbers are real, the engine is validated, and the refund promise is at its most generous while we earn your trust.
