Getting your meter data from Red Energy or Lumo Energy
Verified 26 July 2026
Red Energy and Lumo Energy are both Snowy Hydro brands and both work the same way here. As at the date above we could not find a published self-service download or a published request form for the NEM12 file on either website. Their apps and account pages show you charts of your usage, which is not the same thing as the file.
They still have to give you the data if you ask. It is your data, and the national rules say so. You just have to ask a person.
The steps
- Red Energy: call 131 806, or use the form on Red Energy's contact page.
- Lumo Energy: call 1300 115 866, or use Lumo's contact page.
- Ask for 12 months of detailed interval meter data in NEM12 format, by email. Those words matter more than anything else on this page.
- Have your account number and meter number (NMI) from a bill ready.
What to watch for
- The app export is not the file. The usage view in the app or in My Account is built for reading on a phone. It will not load here.
- Say NEM12 out loud. A request for "my usage data" often comes back as a PDF or a summary. NEM12 is the term their back office uses.
- Ten business days is the standard. If it has not arrived after that, call back and quote the earlier request.
The route we would take first
Because there is no self-service path here, going to your electricity network is usually quicker. In Victoria and South Australia the network portal gives you the file yourself in minutes. Red and Lumo have a lot of Victorian customers, so for most people reading this the network route is the short one. Find your network.
What a good file looks like, and what to do if what arrives is not readable.
